Believe you can do it

Believe you can do it. "I was tired of doubting myself"
That is the quote from Helen Phillips of Sterling Heights Michigan and this season's winner of the Biggest Loser competition.

Jerry Hayes was the at home winner of the show and lost a whopping 177 pounds. His quote that still is ringing in my ears is "Once I got my mind right I was healed!"

Helen and Jerry conquered their self esteem issues and empowered themselves by creating a new reality in their minds!

The quote of the week from one of the contestants that really sums it all up is:

Support Groups are TOPS!

It is always a good idea to use the buddy system when you are trying to lose weight and start living a healthy lifestyle.

As with my all my weight loss attempts over the years I have joined many groups and been on many programs. through the process of trial an error I have found the perfect organization that you should consider if you need the added help of a support group.

TOPS or Take Off Pounds Sensibly, is a national organization made up of hundreds of local chapters around the country. Each chapter meets once a week for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. These energizing and motivational meetings consist of various games and general discussion on healthy living and weight loss tips. Everyone offers their support in many ways from e-mailing, to sending cards and notes of encouragement and phone calls.

Check out their web site and find a chapter near you. You can drop in and check out a meeting to see if it is something that might work for you. The members are friendly, compassionate, non judgemental and will encourage you to live a healthy lifestyle while making life long friends in the process.

A value proposition that can not be beat. in a word these folks are TOPS!!!

Goals

We are well into the new year and for many of you your New Years resolutions are lying on the ash heap of broken dreams. The problem with dreams for many of us is that they are just that, dreams, a fantasy that you wish for. You take control of your dreams when you turn them into goals.



Achieving your goals becomes much easier when you write them down and set a date to complete them. You recall the statistic that only 5% of us ever commit a goal to paper and the 5% of the population that does this simple act achieves their goals 99% of the time! Remember to break your goal into smaller segments. If you want to lose 24 pounds then set the goal of losing 2 pounds a week and the total in 3 months.



Do not beat yourself up for falling of the resolution wagon. Failure is just a learning experience. Understand what caused you to fail and go back to the drawing board and adjust with a new plan based on the last experience.



With this Sunday being Easter celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and also celebrate the fact that you can resurrect your dreams. Turn your dreams into goals that are written down with a completion date. The act of writing them down and reviewing your progress weekly virtually guarantees your success.

Resolution Review

It is 10 days into the new year and a good time to review your progress with your New Year's Resolutions.


Whether your resolution has to do with weight loss, personal professional development, family time...etc It is always a good idea to review your progress towards your goals. Hopefully you have written down your goals for the year. If you have then give yourself a big pat on the back because only 5% of the population ever writes down a goal! Those that do achieve them over 99% of the time. There is something magical about putting your goals on paper! The very act of writing them down imprints them on your subconcious mind thereby giving you the ability to focus on them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your subconcious mind is the engine that drives everything you do.


If you have not written down your goals then do so immediately. You will reap the benefits of this excercise all year long. Make a goal board and put all your goals on the board and enhance them with pictures of the desired reult you want. If you want to lose weight put the total amount of weight you want to lose on the board. Ad a picture of yourself when you were thinner. If you are saving for a vacation to Hawaii then ad a picture of the beach at Honolulu. If you want to spend more quality time with your family then put a family photo on the board. Place the board in a location that will serve as a daily reminder. It will help keep you focused and moving in the right direction.

The Drug Companies Can't Do It Alone

The Drug Companies can't do it alone!
For years I rationalized that it was ok to be overweight because at some point one of the drug companies would invent a magic pill that would miraculously cure my weight issues.
The drug companies have made amazing strides in developing drugs to treat the SYMPTOMS of our weight problems. The array of blood sugar regulating products grows every year. The cost of these products is staggering.
The cost to the employers in lost productivity and increased health premiums is a huge drag on the bottom line. Employers around the country are being driven into bankruptcy due in large part to these increased costs.
These drug companies and employers can not do it alone. They desperately need your help! Only you can treat THE CAUSE of your weight problems.
It is time to get your mind right! You can reprogram your mind and achieve total success. What you need to do is visualize your new reality, set manageable goals and use the unlimited power of the repetition of positive affirmations. You create your habits and your habits create you. When you create the right habits that include leading a healthy lifestyle, Then you truly become empowered and in control!

No Time Like The Present

There is no time like the present to get a handle on your diet and your weight.
When we are younger it is easy to overlook the the extra pounds and get away with not being so careful with our diets. The older you get the more your body wears down.
