There is NO downside to losing weight. The benefits of the increased self esteem and increased energy levels are well documented.
What is not so well publicised is how much money you can SAVE when you get control of your eating habits.
BY GETTING CONTROL OF YOUR MIND!!
When I lost over 100 pounds my monthly budget was very happy! I saved over $200.00 per month on fast food, processed crap, buffets....etc.
I am also saving $120.00 a month on prescription meds I no longer need to take. No insulin, no blood pressure...Nothing!
Clothes cost less as I can now buy off the rack, no tailoring, no plus size surcharges!
Also I cannot put a dollar figure on increased productivity due to increased self esteem and energy.
The economic impact just in dollars I can count will be many, many thousands of dollars a year!!!

I started a junk food log today after reading your post last night. Today I spent $17.85 on a large meal at Mcdonalds including a large Coke, 2 candy bars, mid afternoon stop at Dairy Queen and a large vanilla Latte this moring. After dinner I had 2 bags of chips after eaating 4 rolls at dinner with extra mashed potatoes. It occured to me that I do this every day!. I also spend $75.00 a month for my type 2 diabetes medicine which my Doctor says I can get off of if I get control of my weight and diet. This ads up to $610.50 a month. My apartment is $800 a month. Using your program I could almost save my rent payment every month. Keep up this blog and your good work. I am on my way!
I have experienced all of that along with the roller-coaster effect of losing & gaining weight back. The last time I lost weight, I thought for sure that THIS time I was not going to gain it back, so I did not keep my old larger-size clothes. So to have the added cost of having to go buy NEW clothes after gaining the weight back just adds to the depression of it all. I personally would like off that roller coaster for good!
Dick,
Thanks for sending me the link to your new site. I decided to leave a comment while I was here, and to congratulate you on your weight loss! As someone who knows you personally, I know of your struggles with weight over the yrs. and I think it's awesome that you have been so successful.
You've never taken no for an answer, and I'm so glad (though not surprised!) that your determination in finding a solution to your weight problem has finally paid off. As always, you did it 'your way', and you're an inspiration!
Hope to stop by & see you & the family this summer when I'm out your way. I'll e mail you when I have some dates.
Continued good luck!
Steve
I really think I'm done eating out. I'm behind on a few bills.
